eXacteXposure > Even though the fall colors for 2009 were lacking during mid-October, being flexible and patient can pay dividends later... With this in mind I waited until late October for a drizzly, overcast day before photographing the various small creeks throughout The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

eXacteXposure > Little gems like this seasonal waterfall are around almost every corner of The Smokies if you're willing to do a little exploring.

eXacteXposure > Here you see another one of my canvas prints named "Yearning for Yesterday" being displayed at K&M Gallery. After wading through many framing options Keith and I decided that a more rustic look would complement this image. Along with the frame choice, canvas paper really accentuates the look and feel of this rustic mill.

The image, "Yearning for Yesterday", can be viewed HERE.
eXacteXposure > Driving up the Trans Canadian Highway (approximately 30 mile north of the Lake Louise area) you'll run into the Peyto Lake overlook. Great views can be had from the observing platform, however if you don't mind getting your feet "dirty" you can get much grander views such as the one above.

eXacteXposure > I try to never pass up the opportunity to scout out a new photo location, especially if I've never been to it before. Sure, a warm dinner would have been nice, but I would have missed this "test" shot of sunset at Moraine Lake! I also take this time to find two or three shooting spots as I don't want to be bolder hoping on a cold winter morning (in the dark) if someone else arrives before I do... Planning and previsualization are just as important as camera settings.

eXacteXposure > Each morning after the Moraine Lake photo session was over I’d pack up my gear and head down to the boat dock. By this time (7:30 a.m.) hikers and tourists alike were just starting to arrive which allowed time for me to scour the area. I would take a few more photographs while enjoying the view just a little longer. Boat rides weren’t available until 10:00 a.m. so I usually had the dock all to myself. The canoe pattern/colors made for a neat foreground composition.

eXacteXposure > Usually the wind would pick up quickly after Sunrise, however some mornings would remain calm just long enough to photograph the boat dock and the ten peaks reflection.

eXacteXposure > Each evening the workers would stack the canoes differently, which mean that each morning I'd try another composition.
